I've received an Express WordPress Installation order with some extra options selected. What do I need to do?

When ordering an Express WordPress Installation service, buyers can select some extra setup options for an additional fee. These are detailed here:

What do the additional setup options (SEO, Security and Performance) offer?

To complete these extra requests, you'll need to install some plugins and perform some basic setup.

Which plugins should I install?

There are no specific plugins that you need to install - if there are a particular set of plugins that you're already familiar with, then feel free to use those. We do have some suggestions if you're unsure where to start:

For SEO:

  • WordPress SEO by Yoast
  • All in One SEO Pack
  • Google Analyticator
  • Google Webmaster Tools
  • Google XML Sitemaps

For security:

  • iThemes Security
  • Wordfence Security
  • All in One WP Security & Firewall
  • Limit Login Attempts

For performance:

  • W3 Total Cache
  • WP Smush.it
  • WP Super Cache

You should only use free plugins that are available in the WordPress.org plugin directory. When possible, try to stay away from plugins that haven't been updated in a long time.

Be aware that many of the plugins listed above have overlapping features. You should try to install as few plugins as possible to get the job done.

How much work do I need to do to set up these plugins?

We only expect you to perform basic setup of each plugin. This means:

  • If a plugin has an introductory tutorial or a "first steps" section, you'll need to complete this.
  • If a plugin needs to be connected to an external service in order to work (for example Google Webmaster Tools), you'll need to get your buyer's details and set up the connection.

Aside from this, you don't need to perform any further customization on the plugins you install. Just make sure that they're activated and doing the job that they're designed to do.
