Envato Studio’s Relationship to Envato Market (Themeforest/Codecanyon etc)

With so many options within the Envato brand, we know that the relationship between all of our products can get a little confusing - so we will try to break down how each one works in relation to Studio: 

Envato Market - A marketplace for digital assets (Themeforest, CodeCanyon, AudioJungle, etc)

Envato Elements - Ongoing subscription service for digital assets

Envato Studio - Network of freelance designers and developers

Envato Tuts+  - Place to Upskill and learn with tutorials, courses & eBooks

Envato Market and Elements are the platforms you would use to obtain your digital assets - whether it be purchasing a theme from Themeforest, a plugin from CodeCanyon, or downloading photos and audio from your Elements subscription.  

Envato wants to help you in getting your creative projects done, and  we have created a link between Envato Market and Studio. 

To make it easier to get your creative projects completed, the partnership between Envato Market and Studio allows you to find the right kind of help when you need it.

For your Envato Market purchases, All of the files are downloadable directly from your Market account download page.  On this very same page you will see a ‘install theme/customize’’ button. This will put you in contact with a freelance provider on the Studio platform to perform an Express installation service.


The express services purchase link is often the quickest way to purchase a Studio service, though it is not the only way, more services are available by browsing the Studio service directory.

Using a Provider to install or customise your market purchase.

While both are under the Envato Brand, Studio does operate in isolation to the Market platform. Your Studio service provider does not have access to your Market downloads, or your purchase codes. Any item that you purchase on Market comes with a license - you, as the license holder are responsible for how the item is used.  The items you purchase on Market will need to be downloaded and then uploaded onto your Studio job timeline for use. You may find that your provider will ask you for the files, and this is commonplace.

Studio Provider vs Market Author.

While our providers are experts at installations and customizations they are not the creator of the item you have purchased (author), and there may be times when the best solution is to ask you to contact the author for assistance. 

Please keep in mind that the support that is included in your item purchase (if your item includes support), is not covered by Studio. This means that it is not the provider’s responsibility to resolve item support issues outside of the scope of the job you have purchased. Your Studio job is defined by the scope of your brief. It is perfectly normal, and acceptable for your service provider to refer you back to the item author when necessary. 

Cancellations and Refunds

One of the main differences between Studio and Market is the way we handle cancellations and refunds. The services are provided by our third-party experts. Your service agreement is with them - Studio is the platform. If for whatever reason you wish to cancel a job you will need to request this of the service provider. When Studio mediates refund disputes we look to the job brief to determine if the job has been completed - 

Due to the complex code-based nature of some of the products on Envato Market, you may from time to time, encounter technical issues with your purchased item. While the provider will work with you to overcome these roadblocks, it is not their responsibility to troubleshoot an item or repair a faulty item. This may lead to delays with your installation. An issue with a theme/plugin/item is not a reason for an automatic refund of the Studio service, but we do take it under consideration. If you are looking for a refund for the item purchased from Envato Market, you will need to request this directly via your Market account.
